Garden Railroad at CARNIVALE ON THE GREEN

CARNIVALE is the name of a carnival themed garden railroad featuring 1/24 scale G gauge model trains running on a simple raised deck roadway. THE GREEN refers to the artificial turf sporting green the roadway circles. Viewing benches, and a "snack shack"; enhance the experience for family, friends and fellow Railroad club members.
I've reversed the traditional model railroad layout where the train runs through a layout, in this case, a
scene of a typical carnival; tents, rides, attractions, game booths, support equipment, etc., what I refer
to as 'all things carnival'. Now the train becomes that layout, the center of attention, 'everything
carnival' is built as railcars. Which runs on the simple road bed, replacing the nondescript 'trains' job.
Having seen better days, with aging rides and stale attractions, CARNIVALE has taken to the dark side of the carnival world to survive, hoping to attract a more 'diverse' crowd. Rides are now more extreme, shows increasingly illicit, and 'Believe it or Not' attractions have become bizarrely stranger and games more enticing yet increasingly rigged.
This is a running collection of monthly articles about the CARNIVAL railcars I scratch build and their back stories that I write for the SACRAMENTO VALLEY GARDEN RAILWAY SOCIETY'S newsletter, the VALLEY FLYER, and the BAY AREA GARDEN RAIL SOCIETY'S newsletter, the TRELLIS & TRESTLE. As an active member of both clubs, I also enjoy being a part of their various activities.

CARNIVALE's Creator has brought to life a stunning carnival themed garden railroad that showcases intricate G gauge model trains and captivating miniatures. This remarkable project is a proud contribution to the SACRAMENTO VALLEY GARDEN RAILWAY SOCIETY, where model trains enthusiasts can appreciate the artistry and creativity involved.
Now for the fun part! I start with a current subject of interest and design a unique railcar for the
CARNIVALE train, ('anything carnival'). The subject will determine it's build; be it historical, prototypical, ridiculous or dark.
Most all model railroaders build their layouts based on a theme of personal interest, naming the
railroad along with most everything on the layout, which in turn requires a back story. Now the really
fun part of the making of the CARNIVALE railcars are giving them back stories. Every railcar has a story. It might be just descriptive or historical, but more likely than not it will be strange and somewhat dark, but will always referred to it as........TRUE
